For the first time ever youth choirs have their own category in the Marktoberdorf competition beside the category of adult mixed chamber choirs. The youth choirs should not have less than 16 and not more than 36 singers (like the adult choirs). The minimum age for young singers is 14 years, the maximum age 21 years. Deadline for applications: October 10th, 2008!
The International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf intends to bring together the world’s best choirs in order to provide them with the oportunity, not only to compare with each other but also to discuss choral literature from the individual countries, interpretation, styles, voice-training and techniques. In order to achieve both aims, the choirs will have a chance to work together on a common work, under the baton of a renowned conductor, as well as participating in the competition and sing common concerts in most beautiful venues of the region.
